Here at Heath Windows we’re proud to fit some stylish windows and doors that not only look good, but are durable and cost effective too. But sometimes once they’re fitted they can become a little neglected. So, why not maximise your investment and make the most of your window space with some of these creative suggestions?
1. Unwind on a Window Seat
Why would you want a window seat? Well, it not only utilises the space but provides you with a comfortable place to make the most of the natural light. So, whether you enjoy reading, writing or needlework, a window seat makes a sensational spot to sit. And when you want a break, you’ll have wonderful views of your garden. You could even keep an eye on the kids from your seat!
You’ll be especially thankful you built a window seat at Christmas, as it will help tackle that pesky seating shortage when guests visit. There’ll be no passing dining room chairs from room to room anymore with one of these cushioned creations.
2. Go Green with Planters
Plants need sunlight to photosynthesise and stay strong, so placing them near a window will help them grow. A deep sill is the ideal spot to place a few pots. Not only will this maximise the amount of light the plants get, but it will help blur the line between indoor and outside space.
You’ll soon bring a sense of the outside in if you follow this tip!
3. Dutifully Work with a Desk
Make the most of your window space by placing a desk flush with the sill; no one wants to work from home in a dark room! Not to mention your children are sure to concentrate more on their homework when they’re sat in a designated area, such as a window desk rather than anywhere near the TV.
Plus, you’ll only be an arm’s reach away from your brand new UPVC sliding sash windows or vertical sliders should you need to open them for a breath of fresh air.
4. Clear the Clutter with Added Storage
Let’s face it, most of us have a lot of ‘stuff’. Whether it’s piles of shoes by the door, children’s toys, DVDs or books, we can’t help but collect clutter. So, why not keep things clean and tidy by utilising your window space with a handy storage bench?
Slide out baskets are so easy to pull in and out. Plus, if you add a few plush pillows, these storage benches or ottomans can make brilliant added seating.
5. Adorn with Ornaments
Alternatively, why hide away your prized collectables when you can show them off to their best?! If you don’t have a mantelpiece, radiator covers or shelves, or simply have run out of surface space, a deep windowsill makes the ideal spot to let your decorative items shine.
6. Wake up to a Window with a View
If you’re lucky enough to have a bedroom with a view, why not make the most of it? Push the bed right up to the window and when you wake each day, you’ll be greeted with some seriously good scenery.
7. Wash Up at a Window
Fallen in love with an idea in this post, but don’t have the windows to match (yet)? Then you’ve come to the right place. Take a look at our simply stunning UPVC sliding sash windows and vertical sliders, or find out more about your window possibilities by reading a few of the following blog posts:
