Bow Windows

Whether your home features a traditional stone pillar bow window or a more modern all-in-one bow window, we can create high-performance, draught-free and secure windows for you.

Bow windows open your room up to the outdoors, creating a feeling of space and airiness. We can enhance this effect by installing slim-framed windows that maximise your glazing area and flood your home with natural light.

What is a Bow Window?

A bow window is a type of window that protrudes from the exterior wall of a house or building. A bow window typically has three or more individual windows that are joined together in an arched configuration. The windows are normally of equal size.

Adding a Bow Window

If you don’t already have a bow window, we can install one in the space where you have a flat window. When a house is built with a bow window, the walls sit under the window and follow the shape. You don’t need to go to the upheaval and expense of building work to fit a bow window. Instead, the bow window sits on brackets in the same way that you fit a shelf.

Different Types of Windows for Your Bow

You can use all types of windows to form your bow window and you don’t have to stick with the configuration that you already have. Aluminium windows are just as suitable for bay and bow windows as any other window. If you have a large picture window in the middle, you’ll appreciate the slimmer frames to make the most of the view.

For a traditional look, you may wish to explore flush windows which have the look of wood with its squared-off profile.

When you invest in sash windows you benefit from the classic style you would expect and the features of precision-engineered Upvc. Low maintenance, exceptional thermal insulation and superb security for your peace of mind.

Continuous or Separate Windows

Modern homes are more likely to have the pillars of a bay window formed from the same material as the windows and are more likely to be casement windows. Traditional homes in Cardiff often have stone pillars and the style lends itself to the ever-popular vertical sliding sash window.

At Heath Windows and Doors, we’ll take the time to guide you through the options to choose the best bow window for your home.
